V. Addressing Anxiety

We may be approaching our first time teaching a Lala’s Journey group with a mix of emotions. Let’s end this module by addressing one possible feeling: anxiety.

Anxiety can immobilize us, especially when starting to work with a new group of people. Some of us may never have worked with refugees or children, or some of us may have our own experience of trauma. For others, the challenge may be more about facilitating a new group of people or being in a new location. Even if anxiety is too strong of a word, we may have concerns we haven’t processed yet.

    • Take time now to write in My Notes one thing you are concerned about or anxious about regarding your upcoming facilitation of a Lala’s Journey group. At your first team meeting, you’ll have the chance to share and receive suggestions and help from others. Just knowing we are on a supportive team provides much-needed encouragement. In the meantime, choose someone on your facilitation team or in your life that you can call or message, asking for their support or response. Take a few minutes to do that now.
